of Bellvale,NY, passed away at home on January 18, 2009. He was 63 years old.
Born on August 8, 1945 in Ithaca, New York, he was the son of John W. Humphreys and Alice Kent Humphreys.
He was married to Katherine (Worthen) Humphreys on January 27, 1967.
A 1963 graduate of Ithaca High School, he earned a BS in Engineering in 1968 from University of Virginia. He was commissioned in the US Navy and served on the USS Henry Clay nuclear submarine from 1968-1972. He spent his career as a Consultant to the Nuclear Power Industry including eleven years at Burns & Roe in Oradell, NJ, and 14 years at Millstone Nuclear Power Plant in Waterford, CT, retiring in 2000.
Since 2000, he has been an active member of WVCC, serving on committees, as vice president for two years and club president from October 2007-October 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Humphreys; his children: Louise Humphreys, Julianne Hobbs, and John W. Humphreys; his five granddaughters: Cheryl Humphreys, Jennifer Hobbs, Ingrid Hobbs, Juliana Hobbs and Jamie Humphreys; and a sister, Julianne Vilardo.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 23rd, from 4:00-6:30 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, followed by a memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm.
