a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed away on April 20, 2011 at Valley View, Goshen. She was 86 years old.
Born on August 9, 1924 in Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Gustus and Annabel (Garrison) Skinner.
She was married to John W. “Bill” Minturn.
Doris graduated from Warwick High School, and worked for the FBI in Paterson, NJ during World War II. Mrs. Minturn was a Legal Secretary with Beattie & Krahulik, Warwick, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Warwick Reformed Church and a former member of Pine Island Seniors.
A family statement reads: “Doris loved her family and friends, enjoyed bowling, dancing, water skiing, ice skating, and her home in Florida when in good health.”
She is survived by her husband, John W. “Bill” Minturn of Warwick; her son, John R. “Ray” Minturn and his wife Gwen of Pomfret, MD; two grandchildren: John Jason Minturn and his wife Angela, and Julie Ann French and her husband Greg; great-grandchildren: Chris, Kaycee, Skyle, Trina, Lauren, Josh and Allison.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 22nd, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Saturday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
