
86, of Island Pond, Vermont and formerly of Warwick, New York, died August 15, 2010 at his home. He was born August 16, 1923, the son of Walter P. and Martha Driscoll of Bronx, New York, the youngest of eight children.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia M. Driscoll; son Thomas Driscoll and his wife Stephanie; son Walter Driscoll and his wife Marcia; daughter Kathleen Garulli and her husband Michael; son Brian Driscoll and his wife Jeanette; son Daniel Driscoll; daughter Donna Egan and her husband John; son Terence Driscoll; and son John Driscoll and his wife Elizabeth; 13 grandchildren: Cris and Caitlin Driscoll, Ryan and Eric Driscoll, Michael, Kristen, Jason and Elizabeth Garulli, Daniel and Lucas Driscoll and Jacquelyn Gagnon, and Sean and Brian Egan; 2 step-grandchildren, Danielle and James Walls and 2 great-grandchildren, Dylan and Wyatt.
John served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and afterward worked at various jobs in the southern Connecticut area, including a milk delivery man, baker and machinist and as a bank teller in Manhattan, where he met his future wife. He and his family came to Warwick from East Farmingdale, NY, in August 1967 and lived there for 39 years before moving to Island Pond, VT in 2006. In 1985, he retired from Lone Star Industries in West Nyack, NY where he had worked as a tow boat dispatch manager. He was a member of the American Legion Post #214 in Warwick and, together with his wife, was an active member of St. Stephen’s RC Church and choir. He was an avid feeder of birds, squirrels and anything else that wandered into the yard. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and visits from family and friends.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephens RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, NY on Thursday, August 26th, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
