
James L. Beaty of Warwick, formerly of Spring Valley, passed away at Valley View Nursing Home on February 16, 2018. He was 82 years old.
Born in Norfolk, NY on July 2, 1935 to parents Wilfred and Madeline (Lacomb) Beaty.
Jim attended the State University of New York at Potsdam, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Masters in Administration and Supervision. He also attended Rutgers University for his Doctoral level courses in Education Administration.
Jim worked in Westchester and Orange Counties, most recently as the Principal at the Primrose School in Somers School District. He enjoyed being involved with educating children and even after ‘retirement’, Jimserved in several school districts as Interim Principal.
Jim received a certificate of achievement from the Joslin Diabetes Center for living courageously with diabetes for 50 years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jane (nee Herman) at home; a son James W. Beaty and his wife Lilly of Warwick; a daughter, Susan Smith and her husband Jim of Warwick; four grandchildren: Kristina, Jimmy and his wife Kate, Ryan and Kyle. He was predeceased by his parents and his in-laws, Madge and Dan Herman of Highland Falls.
Memorial visitation will be on Saturday, February 24th from 12-2 p.m. with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.
