In
the natural world, “every birth carries death”: peacefully crossed over Adeline
“Lena” Ricci, of Warwick (formerly of Bronx, NY and Rockland County) on July
14, 2011 at the Schervier Pavilion, Warwick.
Born
in the little town of Teramo on August 24, 1919, in the Abruzzi region of
Italy, Lena’s passion for and pride in her Italian heritage and culture endured
throughout her ninety-one years.
The
elder (twin) daughter of the late George and Amelia (Gatti) Caporale, first emigrating
to America in 1924, in the beautiful Bronx. It was there the now 12 year old Adeline
would blossom into womanhood.
Serendipity
led Lena to her beloved, the late Alessio E. Ricci (1982) whom she doth wed
August 2, 1942 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Reunited after the war, the dutiful and
loving couple set their sights on now creating their greatest treasure – “La
Familia”.
“With warm words of comfort
and gentle goodness stir
in her sleep sweet
sounds sustain, remain in our minds
and
hearts refrain.” Sempre Con Amore
(always with love)
She
is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Ricci of Warwick; two sons:
Kenneth Ricci and his wife Janet of New York City, NY, and George Ricci
of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; a
daughter-in-law, Beth Ricci; five
grandchildren: Ian, Bryan, Alexis,
Joseph and Amanda; three
great-grandchildren: Dante, Dylan and
Tristan. She was predeceased by a son,
Edward Ricci in 1999, a sister, Josephine Valentino and a brother, Severio
Caporale.
