Leon Warren Paffenroth

Leon Warren Paffenroth, of Pine Island, passed away on December 26, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center.  He was 67 years old.

Born on March 26, 1945 in Warwick, he was one of ten children of the late John and Sophie (Daubert) Paffenroth.

He was married to Carol (Hlavsa) Paffenroth.

Leon served with the U. S. Army in Vietnam from 1967-1973.  He worked for 36 years as a Lineman with Frontier Communications in Monroe, and was recently working for Warwick Valley Central Schools as a part-time Grounds Keeper.  He was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  He also was a long time member of the Amity Volunteer Fire Department.

Leon is survived by his wife, Carol; a sister, Katherine Dembeck of Amity; a brother, Roland Paffenroth of Westtown; many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.  He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters:  Nelson Paffenroth, Ralph Paffenroth, Dora Ochs, Eleanor Schmick, Bailey Paffenroth, Harvey Paffenroth, and Betty Jane Paffenroth, and his loving dog, Candy.

Visitation will be on Sunday, December 30th, from 1:00pm-4:00 pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.  Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 70 Little York Road, Pine Island, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
