of Warwick, (formerly of East Orange, NJ) passed away on December 26, 2010 at Schervier Pavilion. He was 67 years old.
Born on May 15, 1943 in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late Harold and Harriet (Whitmore) Tannar.
He was married to Edith (Karsten) Tannar.
He was a Technician with Harley Davidson of Bergen County for 46 years.
A family statement reads: Bill loved everything that moved. He trained as an engineer as a young man at Teterboro Institute of Technology and later at Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood, California. He considered himself one of the best mechanics on the east coast. Over the last more than 40 years, he focused on motorcycles with Harley Davidson and loved his leisure time spent boating on Lake Hopatcong in New Jersey.”
The family would like to thank all those at St. Anthony’s Hospital and Schervier Pavilion for all the generous care provided to William during his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Edith, of Warwick; a daughter, Audrey Scott of Montvale, NJ; a son, William R. Tannar of Warwick; his grandchildren: Frankie, Scianna,
Leigh Anne, Luke and Jake ; and a sister, Alice Benjamin of Castro Valley, CA.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 29th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
