, of Warwick, passed away on March 28, 2011 at Schervier Pavilion. He was 75 years old.
Born on April 18, 1935 in Warwick, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mary (De Mouth) Askham.
He was married for 53 years to Carol (White) Askham.
John was a Bus Driver with the Warwick Valley Central School system for over 20 years. He formerly was employed at the Otisville Correctional Facility for 20 years. He was a member of the Franklin Band, Franklin, NJ, and the Florida, NY Legion Band for over 30 years, playing the baritone; he was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows for 57 years, where he was a past Noble Grand. He attended Warwick Reformed Church.
John enjoyed playing pinochle with the lodge members, loved playing in bands, and was an avid NY Mets fan.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Warwick; his children: Erica Askham, of Warwick and her fiancé Hank, Eric Askham, of Warwick and his girlfriend Robin, and Debra Askham, of Newburgh and her boyfriend Pete; three grandchildren: Thomas Lampreau, Brenden Infante and Anthony “AJ” Infante. He is also survived by a brother, Frederick Askham and his wife Millie in California, brother-in-law Walter White and his wife Betsy, brother-in-law Richard White and his wife Jane, sister-in-law Marjorie Asbury, several nieces and nephews, and his good friends, Andy Taylor, Bob and Ethel Ritzer, and Carol and Alan Hann, and all his brothers from the Lodge. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion and her husband Nevin Carman, and a brother Louis.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 31st, from 2-4 & 7-8:30 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave. Warwick. Funeral service will follow at 8:30 pm. Cremation will be private.
