It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Axel P. Sevar of Warwick, NY, formerly of Richmond, VA, on November 16, 2023, at Westchester Medical Center. He was 7 years old.
Born in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, on April 15, 2016, he was the son of Pierre-Yves Sevar and Jobeth Leon.
Axel was a second grader at Sanfordville Elementary School where he had a lot of great friends and enjoyed going to school. He was an amazing reader. The moments he wasn’t reading, he was playing with his sister, watching TV, or listening and dancing to his favorite music. He had a love for the outdoors, going camping, fishing and kayaking with his family. He loved team sports as well as skiing and bike riding.
A family statement reads, “Axel was always a brilliant, curious, social child which allowed him to reach the hearts of everyone he met. He was always smiling and laughing and his mission was always to have others laugh along with him. He was taken away from us way too soon but at the end of his life he transformed into a true superhero when he gave gifts to help save the lives of three other children. His beautiful smile and joyful personality will continue to live on in all the people he came in contact with. He was truly special.”
Axel is survived by his loving parents Pierre-Yves and Jobeth; sister Selma; maternal grandparents Jorge M. and Beverly Leon; paternal grandparents Claudine Pinckaers and Jean-Marie Sevar and uncles: Jorge M. Leon, Jr., Kristian Leon, Boris Sevar and Martin Sevar.
Memorial visitation will be from 1:00p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 29, 2023, at Mountain Lake Park 46 Bowen Rd. Warwick, NY 10990. A Memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome.
