Jason C. Ashley
01/18/2010

died January 18, 2010,  in Warwick, New York, after a gallant battle against cancer.

The beloved son of Charles C. Ashley and Corinna Sanford Lewis of Warwick, he was born in Bainbridge, Maryland on March 10, 1966. Jason graduated from Millbrook School, Millbrook, New York and attended Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio, and Colorado Mountain College, Steamboat, Colorado.  An expert in computer technology, he worked for many years in the field. He was an esteemed member and valued contributor to a number of internet groups.  His myriad passions included astronomy, old cinema, carnivorous plants and his family’s genealogy.  He also raised and was devoted to two young Pumis, Hungarian herding dogs, Boomer and Tweeter.  An accomplished chef, he was a connoisseur of oriental cuisine. Known for his remarkable intellect and sense of humor, Jason often held court late at night on the Wyndhurst porch. Not surprisingly, Jason maintained his wry wit throughout his courageous struggle.

In addition to his parents, Jason leaves behind his loving sister Abigail Ashley, her husband J.J. Tyzbir, and their son Samuel, all of Shelburne, Vermont; his grandmother Dorothy A. Sanford of Warwick; his stepfather Alfred R. Lewis of Warwick; stepsister Cynthia R. Lewis and her fiancé Daniel Redburn of New York City; stepbrother James H. Lewis, his wife, Lyssa, and their two children Sedona and Lexington, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He also leaves behind many close friends including J. Parker Switzer of New York City and Charney Weitzman and family who reside in Ireland, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins many of whom have their roots in Warwick. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, John W. Sanford, Jr., of Warwick, his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Merwin F. Ashley, of Boston, Massachusetts, and his uncle, Bennett C. Ashley of Palm Springs, California.

In accordance with Jason’s wishes, no visitation has been scheduled. A memorial service will be held in Warwick over the Memorial Day Weekend.  In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations may be made to St. Anthony Community Hospital, Warwick, the Warwick Valley Humane Society, the American Cancer Society or Millbrook School.
