Almyra “Myra” Lawrence Roe, 85, of Warwick, entered into peaceful rest at home surrounded by her family on January 19, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. (I have fought the good fight of faith).
Myra was born and raised in Warwick, NY and she led a full and happy life. She was a member of the Warwick Dutch Reformed Church and a charter member of the Warwick Valley Country Club until her death. She loved to vacation on Dog Lake, Canada and salmon fish and was involved with dog field trials with her husband for many years. She played bridge and golf until she was no longer able. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was surrounded by her family every Sunday for her “special Sunday dinners”.
Myra is survived by her children: her son Bill Roe and his wife Donna and their children, Kristen Whiteside and husband Ted, Kelly and Billy and his wife Andrea; her daughter Susan Batz and her husband Bill and their children, Amy and her husband Tony Mason, Billy and his fiancé Amber Woytkiw, Peter and Luke. In addition, she enjoyed two great-grandchildren: Tristen and Anthony Mason. She is further survived by her sister, Virginia (Pete) Sayre, brother-in-law, Dr. Harry C. Sayre, Jr., brother, Thomas F. Lawrence, Jr., along with her dear and devoted friend, Jean Milne, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Herb, sister-in-law, Marge Lawrence, and her parents, Virginia and Thomas Lawrence, Sr.
We will miss our mother (or Mimi as we affectionately called her), but we have so many wonderful memories of her. We find comfort in knowing that her many friends and family gone before her will be there to welcome her home. “We can feel you near, at peace and free of pain. You’re held closely in our hearts until we meet again.” We will be forever grateful to Diana for her committed and loving care and for helping our family at our time of need. “A friend loves at all times.”
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, our family will appreciate memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Warwick Community Ambulance Corp in Myra’s memory; take the time to visit someone who might need a few kind words, a smile or a hug.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at The Warwick Reformed Church. Burial will be private.
