
Flemming M. Hegner, of Warwick (formerly of Monroe) passed away peacefully on January 31, 2015 at Schervier Pavilion. He was 85 years old.
Born on September 23, 1929 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Flemming was the son of the late Henry and Inger (Melin) Hegner. He came to the United States in 1953.
A United States Army veteran, he served from 1954-56 and then in the reserves until 1962. He was a successful self-employed Interior Designer and Manufacturer of Interiors.
Before immigrating to the United States Flemming served in The Danish Royal Guard for 2 years and after arriving here became president of The New York Royal Danish Guard’s Sociaty for a number of years.
Flemming was a proud man and a loving father and grandfather. He was very active in sports, some of which he introduced to his grandchildren who loved him and who will always remember the precious times they spent together.
He is survived by his loving wife, Erna (Nielsen) Hegner of Warwick to whom he was married for 57 years; his son, Finn Hegner and his wife Connie of Warwick; two grandsons, Nils and Lance. He was predeceased by a son, Ben Hegner.
A celebration of Flemming’s life will be held at a later date.
