Frank Lacalamita
03/17/2025

Frank Lacalamita, formerly of Warwick, NY, passed away peacefully on March 17th, 2025, at age 93.

Born in Brooklyn, NY to Dominic and Theresa Lacalamita, Frank was lovingly raised by his mother and her second husband, Anthony Lacalamita, following his father’s sudden and tragic death. Frank pursued higher education at SUNY Oswego, which laid the foundation for his career as a dedicated Shop Teacher at the Warwick Valley School District. He was also a basketball and track coach at Warwick Valley High School and a basketball and football referee and fan, sharing his passion for the sport with many. He was very involved with the Warwick Valley Country Club as an avid golfer and tennis player.

Frank briefly served in the military in connection with the Korean War. Although he was not deployed abroad, as the war ended before his unit was to ship out, his willingness to serve his country was a testament to his character.

His commitment to his community was evident through his service as the mayor of the Village of Warwick, NY, for eight years, following many years as a village trustee, town councilman and with many other local organizations and committees. Known for his integrity and leadership, Frank was a lifelong Republican who believed in the power of civic duty.

Raised in Brooklyn, Frank was very proud of his Italian-American heritage. But above all, Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, whose warmth and kindness touched everyone he met. His legacy of love and service will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Frank joins his beloved wife, Kate Lacalamita, and his cherished grandson, Paul Girolamo, in Heaven. Frank is survived by his four children and their spouses: Dominic and Cheryl Lacalamita; Peter and Krissy Lacalamita; Patty and Jimmy Goodrich; and Kathy and Peter Girolamo. He is also survived by seven beloved grandchildren, as well as two great-grandchildren (with a third on the way).

The family will receive friends for visitation and celebrating Frank's life on Saturday, March 22nd at 9 - 12:00 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 at St. Stephens Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick and interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 207 Spanktown Road, Florida, NY.
