On Wednesday, September 7th, 2016, the gates of heaven opened to welcome our dad, Edwin Joseph Neumuth. Ed, as he was known, was born to Mary and Otto Neumuth on July 18, 1917 in Malden, NY. After graduating from high school, he served four years in the U.S. Navy as a machinist. During that time he met the love of his life, Una Armstrong, whom he married on July 27, 1940. They made their first home in Bronx, NY where Ed had a short stint as a police officer, before moving to Dumont, NJ to raise their five children. For 20 years Ed worked as a foreman at B/G Corp., in addition to being a referee and an umpire for various local sports teams. He was a loyal fan of the NY Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers. Ed was an usher at the 9:00 mass at St. Mary’s Church every Sunday morning for 40 years. His favorite season was summer, when he could golf and tend to his beautiful vegetable garden.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Mary Neumuth, and his loving wife, Una, of 69 years. He is survived by his five children, Eileen Hill of Little River, SC, Ed Neumuth of Washington, MA, Joanne Castagna of Warwick, NY, Kathy Witkowicki of Sonoma, CA, and Stephen Neumuth of Fairbanks, AK.
