Carmen Mercado, of Warwick, (formerly of Astoria, Queens and Bronx), passed away on October 24, 2012, at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 67 years old.
Born on July 1, 1945 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Eduardo and Maria E. (Rosario) Charleman.
She was married to John Mercado.
Carmen was the Assistant Coordinating Manager for Health & Hospital Corporation at Lincoln Hospital, Bronx, and was a volunteer with New York Cares. She was a member of the Warwick Assembly of God Church.
She was a baseball fan and probably the #1 fan of the NY Mets.
She is survived by her husband, John of Warwick; a daughter, Gracie Mercado of New York City; a brother, Joseph Charleman of Port St. Lucie, FL; a sister, Georgina Negron of Warwick; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 26th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral service will be at 10am on Saturday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
