
Bruno Samuel Astorino, a lifelong resident of the Town of Warwick, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 85.
He was born at the home of his grandparents, Bruno and Sylvia Frustace, on Hudson St. in Chester, NY to Benjamin and Fannie (Frustace) Astorino on July 31, 1930. He was raised on the Astorino farm in Warwick, NY which his grandfather, Angeloantonio Astorino, purchased in 1922. Many wonderful memories were made at the farm with all of his Frustace cousins over the years.
Bruno was a lifelong dairy farmer. He worked the family farm along with his son and best friend, Benjamin Astorino, until his retirement in 2006. He took great pride in his beautiful farmland in Warwick. He was a member of the Warwick Valley Rod & Gun Club and enjoyed growing a large vegetable garden for many years. He had a great love of animals and enjoyed the companionship of many dogs over the years.
Bruno was a hard-working, generous, and kind-hearted man who enjoyed a good meal and good conversation with his family and friends gathered around the farmhouse table. He loved his wife and children with all of his heart and we were blessed that he was ours. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and his great granddaughters brought him incredible happiness.
Bruno is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Virginia (Crover) Astorino; his daughter, Brenda Astorino of Warwick; his son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Eileen Astorino of Warwick; his eight grandchildren: Samara, Matthew, and Anna Karmiol, Gabriella, Victoria, Joseph, Olivia and Isabella Astorino; and his great granddaughters, Ava Karmiol and Aubrey Brand. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Robert and Margaret Crover of San Antonio, Texas, John Crover of New Berlin, NY, Walter and Caroline Nicoll of Poway, CA, Barbara Crover of Glen Spey, NY and Nancy Beatty of Concord, NC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Angelo (Tony) Astorino and his sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Donald and Marie Crover, Hartley and Virginia Crover, Neva Crover, Eileen Crover, Richard Crover and Newman Beatty.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 18th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
