Mary Catherine Croan

Mary Catherine Croan, of Warwick, passed away on March 28, 2012 at Schervier Pavilion.  She was 88 years old.

Born on October 23, 1923 in Beaverton, Ontario, Canada,  she was the daughter of the late George R. and Agnes (Bruce) Yule.

She was married to the late Robert Croan.

During World War II, she worked for Defense Industries in Nobel, Ontario, Allied War Supplies, and later the Canadian Bridge Company in Windsor and Toronto, where she met and married her husband Robert.  They lived in Sudbury, Ontario, Winnipeg and Thompson, Manitoba, and Fair Lawn, New Jersey, finally settling in Warwick, where she worked for the Warwick Valley School District as librarian, secretary in the guidance office, then secretary to several of the district superintendents.  After retiring from there, she worked for Green’s Real Estate for several years.  She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. 

Her great joy was in her children:  Stephen in Vancouver, Canada, Patricia (Scheuermann) and David, in Warwick, and Anne (Watson) in Florida, New York; her grandchildren: Rob Croan;  Matthew, Christopher and Benjamin Scheuermann;  

Brett and Sean Watson; Zachary and Katie Croan.  She also greatly enjoyed her great grandchildren:  Kayla and Alyssa Scheuermann, and Carter Watson.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 30th, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Funeral services will be private.  Burial will be at the Old Stone Church, Beaverton, Ontario.
