Mary McAliney, of Warwick (formerly of Bayside) passed away on May 30, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. She was 86 years old.
Born in Dernacross, Co. Longford, Ireland on December 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (McGuire) Lynch.
She was married in 1953 to the late Thomas McAliney (1999).
Mary grew up on a farm in Ireland and was very proud of her Irish heritage and she enjoyed Irish music.
A loving mother and homemaker, she was a former waitress in Schraff’s on 5th Ave in New York City, and she was a member of St. Stephens RC Church.
She is survived by her six children: Mary Beth Delaney and her husband James of Warwick, Patrick McAliney and his wife Margaret of Warwick, Kathleen McCormick and her husband Christopher of Warwick, Eileen Ryan and her husband John of Winter Springs, FL, Michael T. McAliney and his wife Pat of Massapequa, and Joan Connolly and her husband Hugh of Warwick; eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael Lynch and his wife Annie of Longford, Ireland. She was predeceased by two brothers, Peter and John.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 2nd, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and Sunday, June 3rd from 5-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 10am on Monday at St. Stephens RC Church, followed by interment in St. Stephens Cemetery.
