of Chester, passed away at home on April 1, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was 79 years old.
Born on May 13, 1930 in Bellvale, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Quackenbush, Sr. and Louise Rutan.
She was married to Richard Banker for 54 years.
Mrs. Banker was formerly a Postal Clerk with the Sugar Loaf Post Office. She was an active member of the Sugar Loaf United Methodist Church, known for her rag rugs at the church fairs, and was formerly a choir member.
A family statement reads: “Phyllis was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.”
She is survived by her husband, Richard Banker; her children: Sandy Hawthorne of Highland Mills, Glen Banker and his wife Josie of Orlando, FL, Pam Mann and her husband Darryl of Wurtsboro, and Wayne Banker and his wife Ann Marie D’Auria of Chester; her grandchildren: Ryan, Sean, Darryl, Wakeley, and Brody; a great-grandchild, Anamelia Mann; her sisters: Marian Marrinan of Santa Maria, CA, Bernice Wright of Auburn, NY, and Jean Batz of Bellvale, NY; her brothers: David Quackenbush of Lake Alfred, FL and Richard Quackenbush of Bellvale, NY; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Turnbull and brothers Arthur Quackenbush, Dudley Quackenbush and Robert Quackenbush.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 5, 2010, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
