
Kathleen Spalthoff of Little River, SC formerly of Greenwood Lake, NY, passed away on September 13, 2016 with her family at her side. She was 80 years old.
She was the daughter of the late James Walpole and Nora Walpole-Bulman, born on May 14, 1936 in The Bronx, New York.
She was a dispatcher for Tuxedo Park Police Department where she proudly served the community for twenty years and earning the title as "The Gatekeeper" following an article published in The Times Herald Record on her upcoming retirement. In her free time she spent many hours volunteering as a dispatcher for the Greenwood Lake Ambulance Corp.; past president of the P.T.O.; former member of the Greenwood Lake School Board; Den Mother of the Cub Scouts; past vice chairman of the Parish Council of Holy Rosary; Charter Member of Catholic Daughters Court Holy Rosary; CCD Teacher and Asst. Coordinator for Holy Rosary Religion Education; Chairman for the Cancer Society for Greenwood Lake; and former Committee Person of the Warwick Republican Committee.
She was a loving wife, mother, Nana and friend to all that knew her. She courageously fought a twenty year battle of various illnesses with grace and dignity. She has been a true role model and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her devoted husband Charles of 57 years who was her primary caregiver; sons Dave and Danny; daughters Denise and Deirdre; and granddaughter Heather; also several nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by two brothers John and Thomas.
Relatives and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Holy Rosary Church 41 Windermere Ave., Greenwood Lake, NY. Interment will follow at Warwick Cemetery.
