Sal Balestrieri passed away at home in his own bed on Monday, July 01, 2013 from liver cancer.
Sal was the son of Salvatore and Josephine Balestrieri and was born November 05, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY.
Sal is survived by his wife Shelley, and his dogs, Lucy and Belle; his sister Genevieve Anzaloni and her children Michael, his wife Terry and their son Michael, Benjamin, Vincent and Lisa, his sister Louise Galeota and her children Josette, her husband Tom and their daughters Lauren and Jennifer, Jeanine, her husband Michael and their children Steven and Stefanie, and the Gunderson family in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sal also leaves behind “Cousin Pete” and his wife Alicia. Peter and Sal grew up together and always thought they would grow old together; his Army buddy, Gene Nelly and godson, Chad in San Diego, CA. They were discharged in 1968 and spoke or wrote letters on a weekly basis all these years; Anthony Henriquez, who was a best friend and the most incredible and kindest human being anyone would want in their life; Harvey Waxman and his wife Lorraine. Harvey was like a brother to Sal.
Sal began in his life in Brooklyn, moved to New York City, Ridgewood, NJ, Ringwood, NJ, Warwick for the last 15 years and was hoping his last stop would be Vermont. He worked at the New York Stock Exchange, Philip Morris, in the contract furniture industry with Vecta and JG Furniture and ended his working years at Country Chevy, Warwick.
Sal loved food, classical music, chess, opera, poetry, hockey, racquetball, hiking, the outdoors, kids, old movies and peace and quiet. He has always been a grumpy old man.

A Memorial Service will be held for Sal at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at the Old School Baptist Meeting House in the Village of Warwick.
