
Artemas L. Beattie, Sr., a life-long resident of Greenwood Lake, NY, died on October 6, 2012 at home. He was 85 years old.
He was married to Edna Mae Hart, who passed away July 28, 1993.
The son of Artemas S. and Marianna Pasquale Beattie and the adopted son of Artemas L. and Julia Sheridan Beattie, he was born March 24, 1927 in Newark, N.J.
He was retired from USAF, a former Lieutenant in the Greenwood Lake Police Dept., a NYS Licensed Private Investigator and owner of A B Security, Inc. He served in the USAAF and the USAF in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Rockland Co. Police Chiefs Association and a communicant of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Artemas L. Beattie, Jr. and wife Alison, of Greenwood Lake; two daughters: Stacy A. and husband Robert Turner of Suffern and Susan E. Beattie of Warwick; five grandchildren: Christine, Ryan, Sean, Jesse Mae and Sarah. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas William, who passed away in 1977.
Friends may call on Monday, October 8th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
