
age 78, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Community Hospital, with her husband Pat and her children by her side.
Born on July 26, 1932 in Paterson, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Sophie Wardle.
Joan was a dedicated wife of 60 years to her beloved husband, Edward “Pat” Botbyl and a caring, wonderful mother to her seven children.
Her greatest joys included gardening, along with painting, knitting, crocheting, bowling, and as a homemaker, she cared for many over the years. She was a proud member of the Warwick VFW Ladies Auxiliary and St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Warwick.
Joan is survived by her husband, Edward P. Botbyl of Warwick; her children: Patrick J. Botbyl of Kansas City, MO, Mary Joan Botbyl of Middletown, Gerard Botbyl of Wanaque, NJ, Edward Botbyl, Jr., of Pine Island, Nancy Schiaffo of Middletown, and Skip Botbyl of Hobart; a brother, Alfred Wardle of Warwick; eleven grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 4th, from 4:00-8:00pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am on Saturday at St. Stephen’s RC Church, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
