Helen Agnes(nee Serafenas) Zelaznick, of Warwick (formerly of West Milford, NJ), passed away on March 16, 2011 at Schervier Pavilion, Warwick. NY. She was 95 years old.
Born on March 14, 1916 in Kearny, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Michaelina and Anthony Serafenas.
She moved to Maryland, NY in 1926 with her family and lived on the family farm until returning to Kearny, NJ in 1932. She married Walter Zelaznick of Kearny, NJ, in 1937 and the couple lived in West Paterson.
Helen was employed with Two Guys – Vornado in Totowa for over 30 years, retiring in the late 1980’s. She was active in the West Paterson Senior Citizens Club until relocating to assisted living in West Milford, NJ three years ago, and then most recently to Schervier Pavilion, Warwick, NY for the past year.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Segboer and son-in-law, Johannes Segboer, of Warwick, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter in 1961, and her brothers, Joseph of Lithuania, Walter and Alexander of Kearny, NJ, Peter of Elk Creek, NY, and Anthony of Esperance, NY.
Private funeral arrangements were under the direction of Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY.
