Elwood L. Linton

of Warwick, died on October 3, 2008. at Westchester Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on September 29th.  He was 82 years old.

 

Born on March 2, 1926 in Warwick, he was a lifelong resident of Warwick.  He was the Son of Allan A. and Lenora (Keegan) Linton.

 

A retired painting contractor, he served in the U.S. Navy on the battleship Nevada, seeing action at Okinawa and Iwo Jima.  An avid golfer, he was a member of the Warwick Valley Country Club, a former Senior Champion at Otterkill Country Club, and the proud owner of 4 hole-in-ones.   He was also a member of the Warwick United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 214 and VFW Post 4662.

 

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Lorraine (Farr) Linton, his brothers: Stanley(Carolyn),  and Norman, of Warwick; Kenneth (Lucia) of New Hampton; Donald (Maxine) of Wurtsboro; and brother-in-law Roy Barlow of Otisville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Barlow, and sister-in-law, Irene Linton.

 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 7th, from 10:00-11:00 am at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Warwick Cemetery.
