Helmuth J. (Butch) Katz, a resident of Warwick for almost 34 years, died on March 8, 2008 at New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. He was 64 years old.
Born on December 18, 1943 in Brooklyn, he was the son of Ernst and Emma Ahrendt Katz.
He was married to Barbara (Alexander) Katz.
Mr. Katz served with the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, was an active Chief Petty Officer in the Naval Reserve until 1996 and a Space-A volunteer with the NY Air National Guard. He was a Satellite Communications Engineer with SES Americom, Vernon Township, NJ. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop #45 in Warwick and a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Warwick.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Warwick; a son, Christopher Katz and his wife Jennifer of Edison, NJ, a daughter, Ingrid Katz of New York City, a son Stefan Katz of Warwick; a brother, Walter Katz and his wife Donna of Ankeny, Iowa; a grandson, Lucas Katz; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 10th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral service will be at 12:00 pm on Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 95 Kings Highway, Warwick. Private cremation.
