Robert A. Baumann, Sr. of Warwick, NY, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026 in Sloatsburg, NY. He was 95 years old.

 

Born in Fort Lee, NJ, on November 19, 1930, he was the son of Fred A. Baumann and Elizabeth M. (née Von Bieberstein) Baumann. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan (née Goodell) Baumann.   Together they raised their three boys in Rivervale, NJ. They moved to Boiceville, NY, later in life and spent many happy years together in their beloved Catskill mountains. Later he moved to Warwick, NY to live with his son Bob and wife Maureen.

 

Robert was a United State Marine Corps veteran, having proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was a Purple Heart recipient.

 

Robert and Joan enjoyed traveling the United States and visited many National State Parks and other attractions in their retirement years. Most of all Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his sons: fishing, hunting, riding dirt bikes, camping and many a vacation was spent enjoying those activities down at the shore and up in the mountains.

 

Robert is survived by his two sons Robert Baumann, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Warwick, NY and Russell Baumann and his wife Deborah of New Hampton, NY; and three granddaughters: Melissa Baumann, Tracy Fonte, and Crystal Baumann. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by their son Brett Baumann.

 

Memorial visitation will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY.
