Wallace Quackenbush

Wallace Quackenbush (aka “Bud” or “Wally”) 87 of Warwick, NY passed away Sunday September 25, 2011 at Valley View Nursing Home in Goshen, NY

He was born January 17, 1924 in Warwick, the son of the late Clifford and Olive (nee House) Quackenbush.

Budd was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to tease his children and grandchildren while they were growing up, you just never knew when he was serious or just kidding. He was a man that would give the shirt off his back to everyone he knew. Bud enjoyed going to yard sales and having garage sales of his own, he also enjoyed fishing at Wickham Lake. Bud loved going to the race track with the late Donald Crover. His favorite TV show was Pickers. He is gone but will never be forgotten by his family. Bud was employed by the late Clayton Shorter (his brother in law) at the Mobile station in Warwick for a short period time; he then was employed by the Warwick Post Office and worked there for over 25 years retiring in 1986.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Marion Shorter Quackenbush who now resides at Valley View Nursing Home, one daughter Diane Gallondorn and her husband Thomas of Port Jervis, NY, one son Dale Quackenbush of Holland MI. Also surviving are two grandchildren Pamela Dunleavy and her husband Michael of Port Jervis and Kenneth Costic and his fiancé Diane Hartman of Post Jervis two step grandchildren Dawn Lory and her husband Darin of Middletown, NY and Mark Gallondorn and fiancé Amanda Turfan of Columbia, MD. A brother Morton Quackenbush and his wife Muriel of Warwick, NY and a brother in law Kenneth Shorter and his wife Lillian of Pearl River, NY and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 27th, from 10:00am-11:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, NY.

Memorial donations may be made to Warwick Ambulance PO Box 315 Warwick, NY 10990 or a charity of one's choice.
