, of Warwick, on May 7, 2009 at The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood.  He was 78 years old.

Born on January 30, 1931 in Ypsilanti, MI, he was the son of the late Fred Lester Knipp and Frances Miley Knipp.

He was married to Mary Ellen (nee Ellis) Knipp.

A retired Colonel with the US Army, where he served for 27 years., He was a President of the Warwick Telephone Company,  a member of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce, a board member with the Warwick Savings Bank, and an active member of St. Stephen’s RC Church. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Knipp of Warwick; his children:  Kristine Perilla of Fulshear, TX, Gretchen Proctor of Vernon, NJ, Michael Knipp of Lufkin, TX, Joseph Knipp of Suffern, NY, and Paul Knipp of Ramsey, NJ; six grandchildren:  Lindsie, Michaela, Brian, Kevin, Daniel and Rebecca.; a brother, James Knipp of Williamsburg, VA; a sister, Marian Green of Austin, TX

A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday at St. Stephen’s RC Church, Warwick.  Interment of cremains will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
