Joan S. Putnam, a lifetime resident of Warwick, NY, passed away on November 8, 2021 at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center in Middletown, NY. She was 89 years old.
Born in Warwick on March 8, 1932, she was one of eight children born to Henry and Katherine (nee Probst) Sinsabaugh. All of her siblings have predeceased her in recent years.
Joan was married to Francis “Putt” Putnam who predeceased her in 2017. They were parishioners at Christ Episcopal Church.
Prior to her retirement, Joan worked as an administrative assistant in the Warwick Valley Central School District office for many years.
Joan was dedicated to her family, keeping track of the grandchildren’s activities and keeping in touch with them all. She was so proud of her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always sharing a story about one of them with whomever she was visiting with. She always had a smile and time to sit and chat. Aside from visiting with family, which was her absolute favorite, her next favorite outing was her visits to have her hair done at Luci’s in the village, an appointment that she never missed, both for the social aspect and for looking pretty!
Joan is survived by her daughter, Karen Lavinski and her husband Teofil “Ted” of Surfside Beach, SC; son, Barry Putnam and his wife Cathy of Ithaca, NY; and daughter Beth Eurich and her husband Herman of Warwick, NY; eleven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathy Systema and her husband Henry.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. A Funeral Service will be on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 50 South Street, Warwick. Interment will follow the service in Warwick Cemetery.
