Edward W. Butler

of Warwick, passed away on December 1, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Warwick.  He was 73 years old.

 

Born on May 28, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late John and Helen Morrissey Butler.

 

An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a Fireman for 33 years with the New York City Fire Department, Engine 10, Ladder 15 and was a member of the Emerald Society.

He was a member of St. Stephen’s RC Church, Warwick.

 

He is survived by his children:  Jennifer Scavetta and her husband Peter of Chicao, IL, Paul A. Butler and his wife Laetitia Lecigne-Butler of New York, NY, Susan Butler of Warwick, NY, Jacqueline Melman and her husband Michael of Manalapan, NJ, and Janice Bontempo of Palm Coast, FL; seven grandchildren:  Jessica, Peter, Jacqueline, Jillian, Trystan, Jake and Sydney; a brother, Kevin Butler of Warwick.  He is also survived by his faithful companion, Mickey.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, John and Robert Butler.

 

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 4th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday at St. Stephen’s RC Church, Warwick.  Private cremation.
