Ethel Furman, of Vernon, NJ and a long-time resident of the area, passed away on January 1, 2014 at Elant at Goshen. She was 95 years old.
Born on October 25, 1918 in Vernon, New Jersey, she was one of nine children of the late Ferdinand and Lillian (Green) Van Strander.
She was married for over 50 years to the late Albert Furman (2003).
A homemaker, Ethel was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Warwick.
She is survived by her son, Walter De Vries and his wife Menni of Warwick; a daughter, Karolyn Meade and her husband Arthur of Endicott, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; two sisters, Helen De Vries of St. Petersburg, FL and Janet Cameron of Goshen; and a brother, Clifford Van Strander of McAfee, NJ.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 5th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, NY. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 6th, at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be sent to a charity of choice in Ethel’s name.
