of Warwick, passed away on August 19, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. He was 75 years old.
Born on August 4, 1934 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Philip and Theresa (Gatto) Schiera.
A family statement reads: “The family would like to thank all the staff at the One Day at a Time program, the staff at Schervier and the staff at St. Anthony’s Community Hospital for their wonderful and loving care of Sal.”
He is survived by a sister, Ann Briscese of Warwick; nephew Jim Briscese and wife Claudia of Bloomingburg; nieces: Rosemarie Galano and husband Joseph of Port St. Lucie, FL and Theresa Morrin and husband Richard of Stewart, FL; great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephewsand his dear friend, Kay Pluta. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Schiera; sisters: Geraldine Schiera, Mildred Conti and Mary Angela Schiera.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 21, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at St. Stephens RC Church, Warwick. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
