Mary F. Galante, a 50 year resident of Greenwood Lake, passed away on October 11, 2013 at home. She was 96 years old.
Born on April 17, 1917 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Hessner) Schmitt.
She was married to the late Nicholas Galante.
Mrs. Galante was retired as a Claims Processor with Phillips Insurance Agency in Greenwood Lake. She was a longtime and active member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greenwood Lake.
A family statement reads: “Mary loved her family and they were the center of her life.”
She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Galante of Greenwood Lake; a son-in-law, Walter Carroll of Greenwood Lake; three grandchildren: Lorraine Mitchell of Greenwood Lake, Nicole Mea and her husband Louis of Hewitt, NJ, and Larry Carroll and his wife Joan of Blandon, PA; three great-grandchildren: Jacqueline Carroll, Nicholas Carroll and Raquel Mea. She was predeceased by a daughter, Marilyn Carroll and a son, Ronald Galante.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 13th, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Monday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waterstone Road, Greenwood Lake. Interment will follow in Warwick Cemetery.
