David A. Porvaznik, a longtime resident of Warwick, passed away on June 17, 2011. He was 63 years old.
Born on February 28, 1948 in Booneville, NY, he was the son of the late John S. and Mary (Mucha) Porvaznik.
David served with the US Army during the Vietnam War, receiving the National Service Medal. He retired as a Logistics Manager with Georgia Pacific in Warwick.
A family statement reads: “David showed a very caring and loving heart for his seventeen nieces and nephews and passed on to them his love of the outdoors and of reading.”
He is survived by his brothers: Lawrence Porvaznik and his wife Patricia of Newburgh, NY, John Porvaznik and his wife Carol of Warwick, NY. Paul Porvaznik, and his wife Cherylanne of Middletown, NY, and Daniel Porvaznik of Junction City, OH; his sisters, Susan Estes and her husband John of Liverpool, NY, Stefanie Dragonette of Ohio, Teresa Horton and her husband Charles of Florida, NY, and Patricia Hill and her husband Gary of Slate Hill, NY; seventeen nieces and nephews; seventeen grand- nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-mother, Eleanor Porvaznik, brothers Cyril Porvaznik and Andrew Porvaznik and a sister, MaryJane Zamichelli.
Memorial visitation will be on Friday, June 24th, from 7:00-9:00pm and Saturday, June 25th, from 9:00-10:00 am at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, followed by a service of remembrance at 10:00 am. Interment of cremated remains will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen.
