John A. Porter, of Warwick, (formerly of Westchester), passed away on March 25, 2014 at Schervier Pavilion. He was 98 years old.
Born on December 30, 1915 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Albert and Augusta (Eden) Porter.
He was married to Margaret King-Porter.
John served with the US Army during World War II and was a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy. He was an Insurance Agent with Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company in White Plains before retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret King Porter, of Warwick; two step-children: Greg King of Wayne, NJ and Steven King and his wife Meryl, and grandson Liam, of Caldwell, NJ. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, with whom he had a close relationship.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 3:00-5:00 pm pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Orange County Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
