Anthony Pellegrino, of Georgia, (formerly Warwick, NY) passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013. He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 50 years, Evelyn Camps Pellegrino. He was 87.
He was the father and father-in-law of his son, Frank and his wife, Trina Pellegrino of Dahlonega, GA; his son, Richard and his wife, Maura Pellegrino of Middletown, NY; and his daughter, Toni Lynn and her husband Alan Godby of West Virginia. He was also the grandfather of Stephanie and Samantha Pellegrino of Middletown, NY.
Anthony was born on July 31, 1925 in Manhattan, NY, the second oldest of four siblings—Palm, Michael, and Jean. He was a World War II veteran, who fought in the South Pacific with the First Marine Division in the Battle of Guadalcanal. After leaving the military, Anthony became a New York State trooper and went on to serve Orange County for many years.
Anthony was an active member of the Warwick, NY community. He was a member of the Actors Equity Guild and acted in many community theater and off-Broadway productions. He was also a member of the Masons and was an athlete in the Warwick Softball League.
After retiring to Myrtle Beach, SC, Anthony enjoyed spending summers with his family and playing Senior Softball until he was 82 years of age. Anthony’s athleticism and love of the New York Yankees inspired his son to form the Dahlonega Senior Softball Club.
He was an honest and kind soul who was loved by many. He will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at the Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick, NY on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. Frank, Richard, Toni Lynn and family will receive friends from 3 PM to 5 PM.
