Ruth J. Knoblauch, of Warwick, NY (formerly Jersey City, NJ), died on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 90 years old.
Born on July 8, 1925 in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Frances (Miller) Jaslow.
She married the late Leo Nathan Knoblauch in 1946. They had three children who they raised in Jersey City, NJ.
She graduated from Smith College in 1945. She pursued a professional career in early childhood education, earning her Master’s degree from Jersey City State College. She retired in June 1993 as a Regional Coordinator of Daycare Services of northern New Jersey. She lived the latter 23 years in Warwick, NY, where she developed friendships which she came to treasure, and took great pleasure in living actively, involved in community life. She enjoyed the Warwick Public Library, the Monroe Temple of Liberal Judaism, the Democratic committee, memberships in book clubs and other volunteer activities. She was a role model and inspiration for many.
She is survived by her children: Steven H. Knoblauch and his spouse Ingrid Roze of Cragsmoor, NY, Kenneth Knoblauch and his spouse Genevieve Inchauspe of Lyon, France and Patti Knoblauch and her partner Roy Gumpel of Woodstock, NY; and her four grandchildren who were with her in the last weeks of her life: Noah Knoblauch, Lara Knoblauch, Giana Knoblauch, and Dylan DePice. She was predeceased by a brother, Dr. Robert Jaslow.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 25th, 2016 at Monroe Temple Beth-El, 314 Main Street, Monroe, NY. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Route 9W, Newburgh, NY 12550..
