a 35-year resident of Warwick, passed away on March 22, 2010 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, NYC. He was 80 years old.
Born on February 21, 1930 in Yugoslavia, he was the son of the late Ludwig and Anna (Fessel) Bach. After World War II, Lou lived in Germany for 10 years prior to coming to the United States. It was in Germany where he learned his trade as a mason and met and fell in love with his late wife, Hildegard (Hackenberg) Bach (2009).
Mr. Bach was a Builder/General Contractor with Bach Brothers Construction, College Point, New York; Ludwig Bach and Son in Warwick; and M&B Homes in Marlboro, New York. He was a musician who loved playing the accordion, clarinet, and saxophone for his family; and had been a member of the Foehrer Musik Freunde. He was a member of St. Stephens RC Church, Warwick.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Bach and her husband Gary Farkas, of Warwick; a son, Ludwig H. Bach and his wife Maureen of Marlboro, NY; his grandchildren: Ludwig M., Amelia E., Adam J., and Megan V; a sister, Maria Mueller and her husband, Emil, of Naples, Florida; and several nieces and nephews in the US, as well as in Germany.
His family’s statement reads: “He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He lived for his family and couldn’t do enough for them. He loved working at his trade, enjoyed living in the country, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.”
Visitation will be on Friday, March 26, 2010, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at St. Stephens RC Church. Private cremation.
