Judith “Jay” Lang, a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2013. She was 87 years old.
Born in New York City on September 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Juliet Choulet Bazium and Martin Bazium.
Mrs. Lang was involved with and accomplished many things in her life. She started her professional career with being the first female executive of Young and Rubican Advertising, and ended it being the owner of Sutton-Lang Real Estate. She fought for women’s equality and the rights of all people. She believed there was “good in all.” You only had to find it. She was also very involved with the Warwick Valley Humane Society and animal protection.
Jay loved the Valley of Warwick and spent many years on political boards, committees, and in planning sessions, trying to preserve it through zoning with foresight into the future. Big lots and small signs was a slogan that followed her. Through her hard work and that of her “martini cronies”, Warwick is and will remain a beautiful place to live.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Francis Lang, Jr., who passed away in 2001. They were married for 47 years.
Survivors include three children: John Lang of Cedar Point, Kansas, Robert Clint Lang of Warwick, and Claudia Lang Kapito of Sackett Lake, NY; six grandsons, two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.
There will be no service or visitation. A private family service will take place. Memorial donations may be sent to Warwick Valley Humane Society, PO Box 61, Warwick, NY 10990.
