Arthur “Art/Jr.” Mann, of Leesburg, GA, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2007 at his home following a long battle with heart and lung disease.
Art grew up in Greenwood Lake, NY before joining the Navy during World War II. He served aboard the LST 615 as a Gunners Mate. He was a co-founder of the Queen Village Queens, all girl Drum Corp of Warwick, NY, where he was also a color guard instructor. Family members say he was proud of the guard and Corp for all their accomplishments and good times and for putting Warwick on the map. It was the memories of the Corp and of Greenwood Lake that was a great comfort to him during his long illness. He was an instructor and member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, patrolling Greenwood Lake on weekends and holidays. He was a member of the Excelsior Hose Company and police force in Warwick, NY. People remember Art as a salesman for Stanley Chrysler Plymouth. He retired in 1985 after owning and operating Western Auto in Warwick.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marge; his twin daughters: Colleen Jackson and her husband Chris of Leesburg, GA and Cathy Mann of Panama City, FL; his beloved grandchildren: Shane Jackson and Shelby Jackson, both of Atlanta, GA, and many friends.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Warwick Cemetery.
