
Joseph E. Bodeker, of Warwick, (formerly of Floral Park, NY) passed away on May 14, 2015 at Hope Gardens in Warwick. He was 79 years old.
Born on May 24, 1935 in Long Island City, NY, he was the son of the late Otto and Susan (Devlin) Bodeker.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 35 years, Marion. Joe spent the rest of his life waiting to be with her, and spent his time with those closest to him, his son Carl and family.
Joseph served with the US Army in the late 1950’s and early 60’s and often reflected on this being the best time of his life.
Before retiring, he was a Customer Service Manager with Con Edison in New York City.
A family statement reads: “Our family needs to express our deepest gratitude to all who work at Hope Gardens – Tanya and her beautiful staff and the unparalleled care Joe received from the Hospice workers. You made his last years happy and comfortable and we will always thank you. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.”
He is survived by his son, Carl Bodeker and his wife Christine of Warwick; his grandchildren: Emma, Abigail, Eric and Alex; and also survived by a brother, Gerard Bodeker in the state of Florida, as well as nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 18th, from 6:00-9:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday at St. Stephens RC Church, followed by interment in Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
