Sister Helen Marie Stanton

of Warwick, died on September 25, 2007 at Schervier Pavilion.  She was 86 years old.

 

Born on August 21, 1921 in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph Stanton and Catherine Helen Daily.

 

Sister Helen Marie was a Registered Nurse with The Franciscan Sisters of the Poor and served in hospitals from Warwick to Woodhaven and from Hoboken to Schenectady working with the homeless, and also at the migrant clinic in Pine Island, New York.  She was an advocate for the homeless at Anthony House, giving  time and energy legislating on behalf of homeless women and children with local legislators.

 

She is survived by a sister, Catherine Stern of Warwick, and a brother, Robert Stanton of Bronx, NY; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

 

Visitation will be Thursday, September 27th, from 6-8 pm and Friday, September 28th, from 9:00 am-3:30pm at Mt. Alverno Center, Warwick.  Funeral Mass will follow at 4:00 pm,  with interment in Mt. Alverno Cemetery.
