
Reinhard Ludwig Knieriemen, Sr. passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 91 years old.
Born on March 27, 1923 in Munchweiler, Germany, he was the oldest of four sons born to the late Reinhard and Margaret (Anstett) Knieriemen. He came to the United States in August 1934 and made Warwick his home in 1957.
He was predeceased by his first wife Martha (Gallagher) Knieriemen in 1979, the mother of his six children. He was also predeceased by his second wife Frances (Evanyke) Knieriemen, and his three brothers Lothar, Fridolin, and Joseph.
Reinhard was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the VFW Post #4662 in Warwick, and a retired member of Engine Company #3. He was a retired machine operator for Georgia Pacific Corp. in Warwick where he worked for over 20 years. He was also a member of St. Stephen’s R.C. Church in Warwick.
Reinhard enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, listening to his country music, and visiting with his friends at the Wallkill Valley Memorial VFW Post #8441 in Vernon, N.J.
He is survived by his six children: Reinhard Knieriemen, Jr. of Lanoka Harbor, NJ, Christine Corson of Delmar, NY, Janet Williamsen of Lake Worth, Florida,
Paul Knieriemen of New York, NY, Susan Laroe of Sugar Loaf, NY, Nancy Folino of Warwick, NY and their spouses. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Reinhard’s family would like to thank Dr. Mayank Shah and his staff for the kind and exceptional care that they provided to our father over the years. There will be no visitation, and a private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Reinhard’s name may be made to The Warwick Fire Department or The Wallkill Valley Memorial VFW Post #8441 in Vernon, N.J. Arrangements were made by Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Warwick, NY.
