of Warwick, passed away on March 12, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. She was 88 years old.
Born on July 18, 1920 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Philip and Theresa (Gatto) Schiera.
Ms. Schiera was a retired Seamstress with Zito Dress Shop, Brooklyn. She was a member of St. Stephen’s RC Church.
A family statement reads: “Gerry devoted her life to caring for others, and she loved and worried about her family, including her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was loved by all who knew her.”
She is survived by her sister, Ann Briscese of Warwick; a brother, Salvatore Schiera of Warwick; nephew, Jim Briscese and his wife Claudia of Bloomingburg; her nieces: Rosemarie Galano and her husband Joseph of Port St. Lucie, FL and Theresa Morrin and her husband Richard of Stewart, Florida; many great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She is also survived by her very special friend, Kay Pluta, and well as many other special friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 13th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at St. Stephen’s RC Church. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
