Joseph S. Varca

of Barry Lakes, NJ, passed away on March 6, 2009 at Schervier Pavilion, Warwick.  He was 92 years old.

 

Born on June 20, 1916 in New York City, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Varca.

 

He was married to the late Sophie (Papa).

 

An Army veteran of World War II, he was an Elevator Operator with London Terrace Hotel, New York City.  He was a member of the Service Employees Union 32B-J, New York.

 

Mr. Varca is survived by his children:  Mary Iemma of Barry Lakes, Grace Tripodi of Barry Lakes, and Joseph Varca of Bethpage, Long Island; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother, Teddy Varca of Bergenfield, NJ.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, March 9th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Highland Lakes.  Entombment will follow in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
