
of Warwick, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2010 at home. He was 68 years old.
Born on December 19, 1941 in Queens, he was the son of John and Florence (Fox)
McGlone.
He was married to Sheilah Henderson McGlone.
Before retiring, Mr. McGlone was an Elevator Mechanic with Dover Elevator in Jersey City, NJ for 35 years and was a member of Local #1 Elevator Constructors. He was a former parishioner of St. Patrick’s RC Church in Queens, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
A family statement reads: “John was a pigeon fancier his whole life, from the time he lived in Queens to his days in Warwick, having as many as 65 pigeons at one time. In recent years, he donated them to the Warwick High School. During his retirement years, he enjoyed taking cruises, walking the boardwalk in Long Beach, eating out with his good friends, Irish music, and his new Maxima.”
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sheilah of Warwick; a son, John Patrick McGlone, of Goshen; a daughter, Bonnie-Jean McGlone, of Warwick; two sisters: Marion Raffanelli and Florence Salamone and her husband Arthur, both of Long Beach; a sister-in-law, Frances Henderson, of Bergenfield, NJ; several beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brother-in-laws: Domenic Raffanelli and Patrick Henderson. He will also be missed by his cat “Fifi”.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home, followed by private cremation.
