Anna E. Hanofee
08/18/2009

of West Milford, passed away at home on August 18, 2009.  She was 91 years old.

Born on March 15, 1918 in Flushing, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Romilda (Della Bovi) Imparato.

Anna was a Supervisor with Bell Telephone, Syracuse, NY before retiring in 1980.  She was a member of St. Catherine of Bologna, Ringwood, where she volunteered with Vacation Bible School.  She was the former owner of Hanofee’s Doll House and a member of the Red Hat Society.

A family statement reads:  “Nan was truly one of a kind.  She marched to a different drummer and people of all ages were drawn to her unique combination of independence, humor and sense of style.  Nan lived her life with zest and joy, and loved being surrounded by beautiful things, including her extraordinary doll collection.  She was a self-sufficient single mother and career woman when it was still very much a man’s world.  Nan was the most devoted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend.  She will be truly missed and fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her, all of whom are diminished by the loss of her inspiration and love.”

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Rapp, of Ringwood; three grandsons:  Kenneth (K.J.) Rapp III, David Rapp, and Christopher Rapp; her sisters:  Phyllis Conway of Catskill, NY, Helen Sullivan of Saugerties, NY, Cecelia Rinaldi of Catskill, NY and Lucy Doyle of Albany, NY.
