Catherine Matula, of Warwick, NY (formerly of Riverhead, NY), passed away on June 4, 2014 at St. Anthony Community Hospital. She was 78 years old.
Born on March 24, 1936 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Olander) Temme.
Catherine was a Bookkeeper with Berkman Brothers, in Brooklyn and a former parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church, Brooklyn. A member of the Red Hat Society, she loved to read, play Scrabble, play Bingo, play cards, and enjoyed crocheting.
The family would like to thank all those who cared for their mother at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Mt. Alverno and Schervier Pavilion.
She is survived by her devoted partner, Nicola Pastena of Warwick; her daughters: Barbara Gronowski and her husband Mickey of Commack, NY, Diana Matula and her husband Johnny of Kearney, MO, and Michele McGrath and her husband Mike of Middletown; seven grandchildren: Catherine, Nicole, Charles, Michael, Jill, Jennifer and Allison; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Edward Temme in CA and a sister Elizabeth Hoffman of Staten Island.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at St. Stephens Church, Warwick, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
