
of Warwick, and formerly of Northvale, NJ passed away Sunday October 4, 2009 at St Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick. He was 91
The son of the late Antonio and Francina Fevola Viola he was born August 6, 1918 in Fort Lee, NJ.
Bernard was a Staff Sergeant with Company F the 242nd Infantry during WWII and received a Purple Heart as well as other ribbons and metals. Ben was a Tool & Dye maker for Alcoa in Edgewater, NJ before retiring at age 55 and later worked as the Superintendent of Roads for the town of Northvale in New Jersey. He was a member of St. Stephen RC Church in Warwick
A family statement read: “Ben was a loving father and grandfather as well as a genuinely kind and caring man. He loved his car and golf but most of all his family and his wife with whom he would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 14th, he will be greatly missed.”
He is survived by his wife Mathilda (nee Paglierani) Viola of Warwick, and his three daughters Patricia Slagle of Warwick, Mary Lynn Schatke of Parker, CO and Donna Marcason of Saratoga Springs, NY a son Bernard B. Viola of Dewey, AZ, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Rockland Cemetery 201 Kings Highway Sparkill, NY on Wednesday October 7th at 11:00am
